THE GOAL: Three editors looking for a reason to play hooky decide to finally try out the enticing dive kayak that's been taking up space in our offices for the past few months.
SECRET WEAPON: Measuring 16.5 feet in length with a carrying capacity of 850 lb, the Cobra Triple is billed as the first sit-on-top kayak with enough space for three divers and all of their gear.
FIELD NOTES: "We were pleased to discover that the Cobra Triple has a spacious dry storage compartment, well-placed bungees and built-in tank holders, As promised, our dive gear fit with plenty of room to spare.
This kayak, which has comfortable optional backrests, is designed so three people can paddle at the same time. Made from super linear polyethylene, its narrow bow and stern slice through the water smoothly. The 1.5 mile journey to the river's headwaters, which passes along woodlands and back yards of vacation homes, took about 45 minutes. to complete."
