Cobra Triple Offers Opportunity for Adventure Race
Teams To Compete Using Only One Kayak

Gardena, CA, November 2001 - Invited by Michael Epstein Sports Productions, Cobra Kayaks was co-sponsor and official supplier of kayaks for the second annual USAAR 24-hour Adventure Race National Championships held Friday, November 16, in Malibu, California. The internationally televised event once again was the richest and biggest in U.S. Adventure Racing history with a $20,000 cash purse and close to two hundred participants. Four disciplines included kayaking, mountain biking, trekking and climbing.
Nearly seventy coed teams of three crossed the start line on the morning of the 16th in their Cobra Triples, the first ever triple sit-on-top that is big, sturdy and stable enough to accommodate three adults paddling simultaneously. Representing the hottest from CobraÕs line of high performance kayaks, the Cobra Triple offers a capacity of eight hundred and fifty pounds and ample room for three adults and all their gear. A high-tech combination of design elements helped competitors shed waves and remain on a straight course as they battled the Pacific Ocean on the paddling leg of the event.
"Adventure Racing is the perfect venue for our Cobra Triple," stated Warren Aitken, president of Cobra Kayaks. "Now instead of being forced to use two boats, the teams can concentrate their combined power into one boat." He added that "in just one year, the Cobra Triple has become the Adventure Racing kayak of choice for teams across the country."
