Gardena, CA, April 4, 2001 - Not only was Cobra Kayaks a Gold Sponsor of the 4th annual San Diego Paddlesurf Festival, three members of Team Cobra Kayaks had podium finishes. Jett Keyser, Rich Reineman and Dan Mangus took first, second and third places, respectively, in the Expert over 9' division. All three competitors were riding the Cobra Strike surf kayak. The San Diego Paddlesurf Festival is one of the top kayak surfing events on the West Coast, challenging for participants and exciting for spectators. Hosted by Carlsbad Paddlesports, the event took place March 31 and April 1 at Seaside Park in Cardiff by the Sea, CA. Over eighty paddlers competed in four divisions including Expert over 9', Expert under 9', Women and Ocean Rodeo. "The Seaside Reef was pumping solid 4 to 6' swells with larger sets…the perfect proving grounds for our Cobra Strike," stated Dan Mangus, Director of Sales and Marketing for Cobra Kayaks. "This boat is a radical surf machine designed to ride and rip in waves. It did everything we ask of it to compete and win. All of us on the Cobra Kayaks Team had a blast and sweeping the event was a big bonus." Mangus competed himself and took a third.
