Gardena, CA, November 2002 - Cobra Kayaks has been a co-sponsor and official supplier of kayaks for the third annual BALANCEâ Bar 24-hour Adventure Race National Series that culminated in Santa Monica, California on Saturday. It was the fifth and final stop of the event after which Team SoBe was crowned the overall champion. The nationally televised series offered $15,000 per event for elite coed division competitors and a total purse of $110,000. In addition to 15 miles of kayaking, disciplines included trekking, mountain biking, ropes, and navigation. 100 teams of 3 crossed the start line in their Cobra Triples, the first ever triple sit-on-top that is big, sturdy and stable enough to accommodate three adults paddling simultaneously. Representing the hottest from CobraÕs line of high performance kayaks, the Cobra Triple offers a capacity of eight hundred and fifty pounds and ample room for three adults and all their gear. A high-tech combination of design elements helped competitors shed waves and remain on a straight course as they battled the Pacific Ocean on the paddling leg of the event.
